Enter Randolph County from the east on Missouri 24. The next Trail of Death marker is located 1 ½ miles east of Moberly in Hutsell Park on the left (south) side of highway 24.

Tuesday 16^th Oct. [Traveled 18 miles from Paris to Burkhart's Encampment east of Moberly, Missouri.]

Left encampment at Paris this morning at 8. Our march was unusually long - water being scarce throughout the country. At 3 o’clock we arrived at Burkhart’s encampment, 18 miles from Paris. The day was quite cold - last night having frozen water in camp. Health still improving. Complaints of sickness are scarcely to be heard.
